Trademark (2023) is a generative collection made from the ® symbol. It takes a mark usually attached to a name and uses that mark as the material of an image.

A sign becomes a visual system
The studio records the work as built through Art Blocks Engine and describes ChatGPT 3.5 as part of its October 2023 coding process. The material constraint is precise: compositions use the registered-trademark symbol.
A conversation with a model is part of the production account. The exact division of coding, selection and revision cannot be reconstructed without the prompts and source history. The page therefore avoids treating the phrase “entirely made by AI” as a complete explanation.
What a holder receives
The project provides variations within a visual system. The evidence reviewed does not establish a collector mechanism for rewriting its rules. Owning an edition and interpreting its symbol are distinct from directing its generation.
The release-day explanation
On 22 November 2023, Butcher describes both collections together: the registered-trademark sign can stand for movement between points or the trace left by practicing a trade. The thread ties verification and exchange to the properties of the medium itself. This is his contemporary explanation, not a later claim of historical importance.
